What is the Ontario Greenbelt? Do you have questions about what’s been happening to it over the last few years? Or about what it will look like in the future?

For this exercise in knowledge translation and plain language writing I took on the challenge of transforming the Ontario Greenbelt Act into an easy-to-read guide for members of the public interested to learn more.

Like many examples of government legislature, the Greenbelt Act is a dense thicket of legalese and political jargon. Comprehensible only to the most savvy of policy experts, this document is an important one with far-reaching—and long-term—implications for people living in Ontario. Which means it would be helpful for everyone to be able to understand it.

I wanted to learn more about the Greenbelt, too, as it’s right in my backyard.
