As a communications coordinator for Destination Ontario, I worked closely with the media relations team to transform their essential e-newsletter into a document that better serves its audiences and supports stakeholders in Ontario’s tourism industry.
Featuring timely content in the form of short “story idea” pitches, the newsletter is distributed to more than 400 Canadian and US print, digital and broadcast media contacts. I substantially expanded the content, conducting extensive industry outreach to source content and supply our media contacts with lots of visual assets they can use to tell their stories.
I also made the format more user friendly and accessibility compliant, with a structure that’s easy to navigate and incorporates best practices in e-newsletter design. And I revised the distribution timing to align with industry practice, closely monitoring and analyzing performance metrics to make ongoing adjustments.
