I was born in the lively city of Toronto, Ontario, and grew up not too far away in beautiful Burlington and bustling Hamilton. I’ve also lived and worked in Washington DC, Bristol (UK), Florence, and (my favourite city after my hometown) Rome.
I’m a multi-media communicator! I’ve been an artist, writer, historian, teacher, editor, translator and researcher—but everything i do is driven by a passion for creating and sharing new ideas.
A diverse professional journey has taken me from the warm waters of the Mediterranean to the cherry blossom-lined Potomac and the rocky shores of the River Avon. Excited to be back home in Canada, I’m eager for new opportunities to transfer my know-how in the visual arts, cultural history and language to the landscape of professional writing.
The author of two books and a seasoned lecturer, I’m a savvy fact-finder who’s adept at writing both expansively and authoritatively, and a highly collaborative self-starter who gets work done efficiently and accurately—and always goes the extra mile!
My clients will gain a committed and resourceful partner, and a carefully crafted and audience-aware product that’s full of vibrant and engaging content.
I look forward to creating with you!
Employment and Experience Highlights
Outreach Officer at the Archives of Ontario (Government of Ontario)
I engage public audiences with the fascinating history of the land we now call Ontario, and its people. As an outreach officer at the province’s official archive, I create and support exhibition and education programming, deliver public tours, create web and social media content, deliver public events, and craft print and digital materials like public signage. I collaborate closely with a dedicated team of archivists, conservators, policy makers and educators to develop and promote the archives’ amazing collections—to find creative ways to share them with the world and encourage their use by everyone.
Global Media Specialist at Destination Ontario (Government of Ontario) (January – June 2023)
I shepherded Destination Ontario’s monthly media and PR e-newsletter, “DO Story Ideas,” reaching out to industry partners for timely content and crafting tailored pitches that targeted and informed Canadian and international media about what’s new and exciting in the province of Ontario, Canada. I supported the team’s various media and PR activities as a communications professional, including: industry outreach, database maintenance, document design, web design and content, FAM tour coordination, and internal cross-departmental collaboration initiatives that aided both the organization and the wider industry it serves.
Copy Editor, Translator, and Reviewer at Brepols Publishers NV and Harvey Miller Publishers
(2020 – present)
I empower authors to express their ideas with impact, accuracy and clarity. I find creative solutions to complex problems. I hunt down obscure information, apply diverse style guides, polish word choice and phrasing, review manuscripts with subject expertise and professional sensitivity, and help foreign-language authors make their ideas accessible—all while staying true to the author’s own unique voice.
Digital Content and UX Writer, Editor and Researcher at Destination Ontario (Government of Ontario) (August – December 2022)
I successfully created and implemented a new web style guide and launched and managed a comprehensive content hygiene project for Destination Ontario’s consumer website, remediating and creating new content for more than 100 live seasonal webpages, to aid user experience, ensure quality and standardization, and improve content clarity, findability and impact. I wrote 14 new special interest, audience- and device-optimized web articles on Francophone experiences in Ontario, consulting with industry SMEs, and created three of the highest-performing pages of the winter 2022 season.
Managing Editor and Communications and Marketing Intern at the Aga Khan Museum (April – June 2022)
I enabled the swift and successful production of the museum’s annual report for 2021, as managing editor, overseeing a team of three and coordinating content from 20 SMEs across departments. I contributed substantial research, writing and editing and created and oversaw a detailed project plan, including designing flat plans, allocating and monitoring deliverables and deadlines, soliciting feedback, learning new collaborative software, organizing and chairing meetings and monitoring budgetary and publication goals and tasks.
Instructional Design Intern at Flint Learning Solutions, Toronto (March – April 2022)
I wrote, edited and sourced visual assets for storyboards for corporate e-learning courses, and practiced course development in Articulate Storyline 360 under the supervision of an experienced instructional designer. I created content maps, assisted with accessibility compliance, conducted peer review, quickly learned new collaboration tools, and adapted workflow and outputs to accommodate tight deadlines and client feedback. I made high-quality contributions to client projects that helped the company identify content gaps and make effective recommendations to fill them, and successfully introduced a software tool to aid company productivity. I also received substantial, unsolicited compensation in reward for beneficial, time-saving work.
Assistant Professor in Early Modern Art History and MA Program Director at the University of Bristol, UK
(September 2013 – August 2020)
I designed, taught and assessed undergraduate- and graduate-level courses in art history, and carried out original research to produce and publish peer-reviewed academic articles and books. I oversaw and managed all aspects of the department’s MA program. Along with many other roles and responsibilities, I created and supported new industry partnerships to expand student learning, wrote successful grant applications, supervised PhD students, and worked with colleagues to reshape both undergraduate and graduate curricula in response to changing industry and student needs.
Research Associate (Post-Doctoral Fellowship) at the National Gallery of Art, Washington DC (2010 – 2013)
I collaborated as a vital team member on a series of art historical research projects and publications, conducting archival research in both the US and Italy. I wrote, edited and translated content for both individual and team-generated projects and publications. I acquired image and publication rights from international licensors, supported the research activities of visiting senior fellows, delivered public talks on my own research and publications, organized workshops, and helped to support and provide consistency for an ever-changing community of cultural industry professionals.
