As an Ontario Internship Program intern, I had the privilege of working closely with and learning from the Digital Content and UX team at Destination Ontario—the province of Ontario’s official tourism marketing agency.
I helped fulfill a key organizational need for market- and user-centred Francophone web content by researching and writing 14 new special interest web articles on Francophone experiences.
I conducted SEO and market trend research and consulted with cross-industry SMEs (including Salut Canada and La Société Économique de l’Ontario) to ensure the content was accurate, culturally sensitive and closely aligned with government values. I also sourced some great images for each page, optimizing content for desktop and mobile users and adopting best practices in UX design.
The pages (available in English and French) have been tailored specifically to French- and English-speaking audiences. Each topic promotes Franco-Ontarian operators and events throughout the province: outdoor activities, food and drink, festivals and events, arts and culture, French language resources in Ontario, the Route Champlain (a tourism route that traces the path taken by 17th-century explorer Samuel de Champlain) and a landing page that introduces the wide range of Francophone experiences available in the province.
The textual content of the French pages was written by an experienced French translator.
